The Curtain Falls

Imagine you are sitting in a park on a balmy evening watching a live theater play, and then suddenly, in the middle of a scene, the curtain falls and you are like "wait...what? Is it over? That can't be right..." and so you kind of sit there, expecting the curtain to come back up, and the play to continue. But it doesn't. The curtain remains down for longer than any appropriate intermission time, and the crowd begins to leave. You sit there with a hopeful few...but then it begins to rain...and then snow...and soon, you are all back in your homes...wondering what happened.

The last eight weeks were something like that, sitting and waiting for the curtain to come up. The curtain had dropped when the house sold...but we were pretty sure that it would be coming back up soon, and the better half of the production would resume.

But instead...it got really quiet. And dark. And cold. And snowy. The change in weather brought icy roads and aggressive illness...and the once lively attendance to Shaun and Sondi's programs dwindled down to a faithful few.

With the loss of the house we had to drop kids club all together. Adult club and Sunday fellowship are now held 15 minutes out of Tapolca in Hegyesd where Shaun and Sondi live. Ladies Bible study and Youth Group are at Lindsey's apartment.

February was a bit of a tough month for everyone. Lot's of cabin fever, restlessness and gloom. I tried to stay busy...but nothing seemed consistent or promising. Just kind of fizzled as soon as it started.

I had to move out of my apartment on March 8th. Lindsey kindly offered for me to stay with her for two weeks. She has a little one room apartment provided by her school. I readily agreed and now I'm happily camping out on my little foamy in the corner, feeling very content and glad to have the company again.

The sun is shining and the temperature has temporarily risen up into the twenties. Woot! We are sitting around twenty-two today. Looking at a forecast for a foot of snow next week...but no worries, because not too long after that, on March 27, I'll be leaving it all behind and heading to Rome for five days with Lindsey and her sister :) I have a feeling the days are going to start flying by.

Please continue to pray for Shaun and Sondi. It is not looking like they will be able to find a suitable or affordable replacement for the house we had unless God still plans to provide one at some point. They have some huge decisions to make, which could mean big changes. They don't know at the moment. And, as I said earlier, this sudden change for them really is like a curtain falling right in the middle of the production, so it can be confusing and full of unknowns, which can be really scary.

Thanks for keeping posted, and for your prayers!
